Setup guide · MetaTrader 4

From file to chart in seven steps.

This is the standard way to install an expert advisor in MT4, applied to Aurex. If anything looks different on your screen, send us a screenshot on WhatsApp and we'll talk you through it.

  1. Get the file and licence

After you subscribe, we activate your Aurex licence on your MT4 account and send you the compiled EA file on WhatsApp.

Have your MT4 account number and broker name ready. We need them to activate the licence.
  2. Copy it into MT4's Experts folder

    • In MT4, open File → Open Data Folder.
    • Go into MQL4, then Experts.
    • Paste the Aurex file there.
  3. Refresh MT4

Either restart MT4, or open the Navigator panel (Ctrl+N), right-click Expert Advisors and choose Refresh. Aurex should now appear in the list.

  4. Allow automated trading

    • Open Tools → Options → Expert Advisors.
    • Tick Allow automated trading.
    • Leave any other options as they are unless we tell you otherwise.
  5. Attach Aurex to a chart

    • Open the chart for the symbol and timeframe you've agreed with us.
    • Drag Aurex from the Navigator onto the chart.
    • On the Common tab, tick Allow live trading.
    • On the Inputs tab, review the settings. If you're unsure, leave the defaults and ask us.
    • Click OK.
  6. Confirm it's running

    • Make sure the AutoTrading button on the toolbar is switched on.
    • Check the EA icon in the top-right corner of the chart. It shows as active when Aurex is running (a smiley face or a hat, depending on your MT4 build).
    • The Experts and Journal tabs at the bottom of MT4 show what the EA is doing.
  7. Keep MT4 running

An expert advisor only works while MT4 is open and connected. If your computer sleeps or shuts down, Aurex stops checking. Many traders run MT4 on a VPS for this reason. Ask us if you want to talk it through.
